This page explains what information ByteLevelTech collects when you visit, and why. I'll keep it simple — no legal jargon.

Analytics

I use GoatCounter to understand how many people visit this site and which pages they read. GoatCounter is privacy-focused:

  • It does not use cookies
  • It does not track you across other websites
  • It does not collect personal information like your name or email
  • It records: which page was viewed, the referrer (where you came from), your country, and your browser/device type

None of this data can identify you personally. I use it to see which articles are popular and where readers are coming from.

Advertising

As of now, this site does not run any advertisements.

In the future, I may add Google AdSense ads. If that happens:

  • Google uses cookies to show relevant ads based on your browsing history
  • These cookies are set by Google, not by me
  • You can opt out of personalized ads through Google's Ads Settings
  • You can also disable cookies for advertising through the Network Advertising Initiative

I will update this page before any ads go live. The date at the top will reflect when it was last changed.

Server Logs

The server that hosts this site (a VPS running Nginx) keeps standard access logs. These include your IP address, the time of your visit, and which page you requested. These logs are rotated and deleted automatically. I don't look at them unless I'm troubleshooting a technical problem.

Your Data

I don't:

  • Collect email addresses (there's no newsletter signup)
  • Use any third-party trackers or analytics beyond GoatCounter
  • Have a database of user information
  • Sell, share, or trade any data (I don't even have any to sell)

Cookies

This site itself does not set any cookies. GoatCounter doesn't use cookies either. The only potential future cookies would come from Google AdSense, and that won't happen without notice.

Changes

If anything on this page changes, I'll update it. The simplest way to check is to look at the bottom of the page for the last update date.
